Good stuff, mamselle!

Parasaurolophus, I feel you on the IRB meetings. We have not met too often for greater than minimal risk protocols lately, but I have been getting a lot of expedited reviews. Once I turn one in, another one appears. It is cool to see what people are researching though!

Yeah, it is. Especially here, where there's almost no research to speak of going on--it's interesting to see which niches are active!
I know it's a genus.

At the very least, I should finish fixing the citations and things today. It's a pain trying to find the right page across translations. *grumble*

Things to do week of September 26:
1. Continue to polish and refine draft of article in progress so it can be submitted to a journal by the end of the month/early next month.
2. Keep working on conference paper primary sources, writing analyses of each one.
3. Revise book chapter.

Last week was slow and steady with productivity on 1 and 2. No amazing progress, but progress is being made.

This week I'm bracketing larger blocks of time for writing to speed up productivity and to dive into 3.

Have a good week everyone!

Today I am in a board meeting for an organization's publications branch. Tomorrow I am meeting with my two coauthors to rework the rejected manuscript. I got invited to a shared drive for the book chapter update due 12/1. I am hopeful to participate with my student research assistants on getting started with the big project this week, so I need to talk to a few folks with the right equipment and software, luckily in my building. I still need to get my presentation done for the conference, which is due Friday.

More typing of notes today, maybe more editing.

4:30 student, maybe more typing after that.

No word yet from editor-like person, so I'll just keep typing and editing and hope I can beat them to the finish line!

I did what I could, but can't convert a few because I don't own the new translation, and the electronic version doesn't exist yet so nobody else seems to have access to a copy either. Sigh. Guess I'll beg the editor's forgiveness.

Otherwise, I did some fixing and added 800 words or so. Still need to write up the conclusion, however.

More typing done, more to do, no note yet from editor-like person, so I'll keep on.

Guess I'll write up my conclusion, polish, and hope to be done with September Chapter?

You know what to do...

My goals:

  • Revise paper #1 (recently rejected) and get it back out
  • Make progress on paper #2 - possibly split it into two papers
  • Make progress on invited book chapter
  • Write and pitch op-ed
  • Work on data collection project - mostly this means managing my RA
  • Think about two book ideas and about drafting proposals

I also have a paper with colleague on the backburner, but doubt I'll have time to work on it (colleague is too busy to be interested and I'm not sure where to go with it).

Over the last two weeks I made substantial progress on the dataset for paper #2 (even have some positive preliminary results) and also kept chipping away at the book chapter. My RA is working away at the data collection project - which is soon going to be more of a "doing something with this data" project.

Maybe this week I'll start thinking more seriously about the book ideas that I mentioned above, although those seem to be the things that I never get around to.

I also have three fresh things on my plate for October:

  • Get rejected paper back out - hopefully next week
  • Start new project with colleague
  • Make revisions for small journal/newsletter article

Rejected paper has now been resubmitted.

Pretty well there. I'll give it one last look tomorrow, I guess. The conclusion sucks. But I guess it concludes.

I guess today I'm giving September Chapter one last read through, then sending it in. And then I'll start working on Collaboration 3, due in late October (eep!).

More done, more to do.

Progress of a kind, at least it's getting done!

Just need more traction, and fewer dis-tractions.

Starting shortly. No students 'til 6 PM.
