Woke up to an article rejection... will have to spend time getting this back out in November.

Goals for the month:

  • Finish turning around paper #1 (R&R of short commentary piece)
  • Keep chipping away at paper #2 (try to get full rough draft together)
  • Get paper #3 off the ground (meeting with co-author in about ten days to put together outline)
  • Paper #4
  • Keep chipping away at invited book chapter (try to get full rough draft together)
  • Continue to make progress on ongoing data collection project (mostly by managing RA)
  • Think about new projects, including possible book projects
  • Get desk rejected paper back out
  • Revise and submit rejected paper to new journal

Sorry to hear that.

I had something similar the other day for a conference abstract, but hadn't really expected it to be accepted, they have an every-other-year policy, and I'd just presented last year (but someone suggested I send in an idea anyway, so I did).

It may go to the 'general pool' and I've had one taken up from there, once, so it's not impossible; I'm busy enough with other things I'll be just as glad to have the excuse not to work on this topic as well at the moment....time enough next year.

Some editing and typing getting done now; a bit more to go, plus class prep for 4:30 class (for which parts of things are already in place).

Then solid teaching after that--unusually for a Friday night, I'll be doing three back-to-back lessons because of student issues, which is fine this once, and I can do my little-puddle-on-the-floor number afterwards with no repercussions because, Saturday!

Just cover letter work today, although I won't have much time for it.
I know it's a genus.

Curses, got a rejection today. R2 was enthusiastic, but R1 blew through two deadlines and clearly did a rushed job.

I'll have to make some minor adjustments and re-send it in November.

Got the desk rejected article back out.

Got proofreading edits on chapter yesterday and turned it around within a few hours. Now it is with the publisher and will be published in a year. Today one of the student research assistants did a lot of work on the big project. That is moving along quite well, and I hope to get back into my contributions to it on Monday.

Did a bit. Should be able to finish it tomorrow, and maybe even send it off. We'll see.

Whoo-hoo!

Good for you.

Bits more of editing done; more typing to do after a break/snack/etc.

Just one research goal this month:

  • Finish and submit Collaboration 3

I also need to get my parental leave application done in the next week, but that's hardly research.

C3 is done and submitted, conference comments are done, sent off C1, and applied for a (perfect!) new job. Parental leave application must wait until December, otherwise HR will screw me over even worse than they already are.

I wrestled the Excel tables to the ground, and the charts come out right, so I'll have a more secure basis for the discussion I'm doing next in Chpt 1.

Less done on the article or the other chapter, but it worked well to just focus on this item today, so, so be it!

See everyone in November!!

After a significant amount of work, my R/R is complete. Tomorrow I'll do one more read through to check for typos/mistakes/awkward sentences. I also need to check a couple of translations and add a number of citations to the bibliography. I plan to resubmit it tomorrow.

For the rest of this week I'll finish a conference paper, and then get back to my other articles and book revisions.

Have a good week!

That is awesome, rota1234!
Today I finally contributed again to my major long-term project that my student research assistants have been working on for awhile. It felt good to get back into that!
I head to a conference in two days so I am trying to grade like crazy so I do not have to do any grading there.

mamselle

I don't see a November thread so I'm starting one now!

See you there!
