Just one research goal this month:

  • Finish and submit Collaboration 3

I also need to get my parental leave application done in the next week, but that's hardly research.
I know it's a genus.

Parasaurolophus

I have limited time today, but I'll be working on C3.

Goals for the month:

  • Finish turning around paper #1 (R&R of short commentary piece)
  • Keep chipping away at paper #2 (try to get full rough draft together)
  • Get paper #3 off the ground (meeting with co-author in about ten days to put together outline)
  • Keep chipping away at invited book chapter (try to get full rough draft together)
  • Continue to make progress on ongoing data collection project (mostly by managing RA)
  • Think about new projects, including possible book projects

Puget

Started the month off right with an acceptance (after second revision) of a paper with grad student #2.
October goals--4 left over from last month (but we're making progress on all of them!), plus getting back on the horse with a rejected grant and re-working it as a new submission. I'm sure other stuff will crop up during the month.

1.. Submit recently graduated student's R&R revisions (waiting for final co-author to comment, extension from journal until 10/12)
2. Get recently graduated student's other paper submitted (bug co-authors to get us their comments-strategically waiting until they finish #1 first)
3. Get grad student #1's R&R resubmitted (in her writing plan-- keep following up with her on progress, due to journal by 11/11)
4. Get CSS paper submitted (full draft with co-authors now)
5. Make progress on complete overhaul of rejected grant: first step is to make a plan with MPI

Got 300 words in this morning.

Though today is October, I did finish some goals from September today: submitting conference presentation slides and completing a manuscript review.

October Goals

  • Continue working on long-term project with student research assistants
  • Get started on book chapter edits due 12/1 with two collaborators
  • Work on rejected manuscript revision with colleague and student
  • After conference presentation, take feedback from discussant and audience and revise manuscript, then submit to a journal

Parasaurolophus

I don't usually work on weekends, but since C3 needs to be done by the 25th, I'll put in some work when time allows.

500 new words, and much more quote selection. I can see this thing coming together!

Same again today, as time allows.

I'm setting the bar for myself pretty high this month given that these are all labor intensive goals. I'm not sure how much I will be able to complete.

October goals:

1. Finish journal article and submit (hopefully by mid month).
2. Finish conference paper (just a few more days of work left on this).
3. Finish revisions on book chapter (There's not too much to be done here, but I'm in the middle of this task).
4. Continue research/begin drafting new journal article (This paper is in my wheelhouse and preliminary research is complete, but the topic of this paper makes it a difficult task).
5. Begin revising next book chapter by adding one new primary source, seeking out new secondary material on that source, and tightening up the writing/structure.

Puget, sorry I forgot to congratulate you on your acceptance! I thought I had, oops.

I decided to get a few editorial things done for the journal today since I have a very limited week before I travel to my first in-person conference where I have three presentations. I had scheduled to do this next Sunday, but I realized how much time I have today while doing an insane amount of laundry.

mamselle

Isn't there a Burmese quote, "After ecstasy, the laundry" ?

Now you just need the ecstasy part.

I'm typing more, taking a break from the Intro and writing an abstract, just to shift gears.

Two-thirds done. Back to more Intro stuff shortly.

Same again today, as time allows.

About 300 words, plus a few hundred more in pulled quotes. My portions are hellishly terrible, still, but they're slowly coming together. There'll be something half decent by the end of this coming week.
I know it's a genus.

Parasaurolophus

Kwell, I'll start trying to put things together a little more presentably today.
