Working on comments today.

Roughly halfway done. Good enough for today.
I know it's a genus.

I hr. each of editing and typing done, plus tweaking the table.

Might even have time to look at one of the other items hanging fire now (student cancelled); Ppt or article?

Article, I think....haven't looked at it in a bit, don't want it to go completely cold and dry on me.

Oops. I also worked on that leftover paper afterwards. I figure out how to make it much better! Now, to implement...

Today the only research-y thing that happened was I reached out to a person to profile in the book chapter revision who responded agreeing to be featured in the chapter. Otherwise, I taught two classes, presented in between them at a luncheon, and had meetings throughout the day interspersed. I hope to work on the book chapter revisions tomorrow.

Goals for the month:

  • Finish turning around paper #1 (R&R of short commentary piece)
  • Keep chipping away at paper #2 (try to get full rough draft together)
  • Get paper #3 off the ground (meeting with co-author in about ten days to put together outline)
  • Paper #4
  • Keep chipping away at invited book chapter (try to get full rough draft together)
  • Continue to make progress on ongoing data collection project (mostly by managing RA)
  • Think about new projects, including possible book projects
  • Get desk rejected paper back out

Have to add a new task to my list --> Get desk rejected paper out to a new journal. I'm hoping to do this very quickly.

There has been enough progress on some of my other tasks to cross them off the list, but not enough that I can say they are actually complete (still waiting for my co-author on paper #2).

More commentary today, hopefully more neglected paper, too.

Cleanup via getting some forgotten materials off an old XHDD--I thought I'd copied everything over but had missed some bits, so I'm glad I caught those.

Three files are now open waiting to be copied into the main file for editing.

More are ready after those are done.

Materials for the article also turned up in the survey of the older XHDD, so those will be useful when I get back to it.

Done the comments, worked on the paper for a decent spell.

Then was sidetracked for an hour because a better job popped up at a local R1, but it has a short turnaround time and applying will require some work on my part. AFTDJ!

Go for it, good for you!

I got the extra materials folded into the appropriate places and more editing done.

I might or might not work on Neglected Paper today; gotta concentrate on that job application instead, because I'm gonna be gone all of next week, and it's due when I return.

Would job opening be better for someone with a new-hatched hatchling?

Hope all goes well!

Gearing up for lunch and editing now.

Absolutely. The R1 has loads of money, and the position is TT (we don't have tenure here, so we're essentially fancy adjuncts). The long-term stability and decreased load would be fantastic.

Aha.

All dino-digits crossed!

Article edits done, starting intro and chptr 1 work now.

I made an amazing syllabus for the weird boutique course they want taught, and rewrote my entire research statement so it would be equally amazing.

Intro work went well; a snag with the table in the next chapter will have to get resolved tomorrow; can't think past the wall at this point to go back and figure out why one column is just off by 4 and the other off by 1...and it does affect the results...grrrr!!!
