Parasaurolophus

I know it's a genus.

Located resources needed for book, Ppt and article.

Reached out to a possible collaborator on making the Ppt work as an online presentation.

Sent the article abstract to a few folks for input/ideas.

More to do still.

Lunch now, teaching later.

December tasks:

  • Complete book chapter draft - due January 31, I need to write the conclusion
  • Polish draft of paper #1
  • Make some progress on getting paper #2 off the ground
  • Revise paper #3 for resubmission
  • Conduct interviews related to new project that I am launching with co-authors
  • Continue developing book proposal, based on data collection project that has been ongoing (RAs working on this)

Stretch goals for December:

  • Submit paper #1 to a journal
  • Submit paper #3 to a journal
  • IRB for ongoing project
  • Think about new projects

Three things crossed off (no more progress will be made on these in December):

  • Book chapter draft complete
  • Met with co-author of paper #2 and laid out our action plan
  • Conducted interview for new project with co-authors

One thing added to the list: Deal with rejected paper.

darkstarrynight

I added in my last two components to the book chapter that is due tomorrow. I offered to help with more editing as needed, but I feel good about the changes we made.

I emailed my two coauthors on the rejected manuscript to revise, and did not hear anything yet. I know this is a tough time of year but it is also a good time to get that done as the semester wraps up, so hopefully we can revisit it soon.

1 more page of edits fixed and two illustrations added.

More to do.

Student shortly.

My goals this month:

Conference paper:

  • Finish draft
  • Revise draft [in progress]
  • Finish handout
Dissertation:

  • Chapter 1: begin revising
  • Chapter 2: 4,000 more words (for ~8,500 total)
  • Chapter 3: read some of primary source V

Went through the draft again today and made some minor edits. I need to reread my major primary source (it's short) and then rework the conclusion. After that, I'll clean up the handout and show it to some colleagues.

Gonna try to sneak in more sectioning while I can; otherwise, it's a pretty full day.

Was about to start more chapter work, then remembered an older, relevant Ppt, and started looking at it.

There are some unfinished slides....(uh-oh)....and if it were done, it could go with two others that ARE done for another showing later.

Must.stay.focused...

Food, then at least one page's worth of edits, then class prep.

Ready, aim, open the refrigerator....

Reworked the conclusion, cleaned up the handout, and sent it off. Maybe tomorrow I can work on something else for a change!

Yea!

I've been working like crazy this week to make progress on research, before grading and holiday travel starts. Fortunately, things are coming together:

My co-author submitted her part for Paper #1 and now we have a very nice draft. I think it will have a shot at a top journal, although don't want to get too excited just yet. I don't think we'll have it under review this month, but maybe in January. I have a little more polishing to do before I cross it off the list, but maybe I'll get it done by early next week (or maybe the week after).

I also met with my co-authors this morning about our recently rejected paper (#3). We agreed on a next journal and on the revisions we hope to make before resubmitting. I read the paper this afternoon and made notes within the document for how to move forward. I'll try to make my edits over the next week or so and then send to them for their parts.

My RAs are still working away on my data project and making some notes on my book proposal draft as they do. I don't know when I'll have time to do any real work on this, but with them working away I can at least say that progress is being made.

Finished one pre-existing section (~800 words), came close to finishing a second, finished reading a thing.
