I don't often post on this thread, but I wanted to tell people I just submitted a letter-of-intent (the second of three stages of this specific grant application I've undertaken) that took two months and six people to put together. (It might be "only" a letter, but there ain't no "only" about it. Word limits of 500 or 1500 require a level of work I underestimate every single time.)

Whew!

Here's hoping we're invited to submit part 3.

Congrats! That is awesome. I conducted another research interview this week and have two more tomorrow. Then I have to slap together a conference proposal due this weekend.

Today, I'll come as close to finishing Boring Section as I can.

Finished it! Any other time today will be dedicated to the other section.

January tasks:

  • Finalize and submit book chapter draft - due January 31
  • Submit paper #1
  • Submit paper #2
  • Work with co-author to figure out framework for paper #3 and, if we can agree, outline and begin drafting
  • Get my RAs back to work on two projects that will, I hope, become books; and on my end, make some progress on developing/drafting book proposals

Stretch goals for January:

  • IRB for ongoing project
  • Explore literature on topic I've become interested in to see if/how I can make a meaningful contribution
  • Deal with any rejections/R&Rs that come my way

I sent off paper #1 this morning. Paper #2 is ready to go, but I need the ok from co-authors. I also received a rejection the other day, so working on turning that around.

Gonna come as close as I can to finishing this next section today.

January Goals

  • Finalize revision with two colleagues for recent rejection
  • Finalize revision with colleague and student for rejection from Fall
  • Continue working on long-term project with students
  • Submit conference proposal due early January

Conducted two research interviews and got the conference proposal submitted with my two colleagues! I also heard from one of my student research assistants who wants to get started on our long-term project next week before the semester begins! That was a nice surprise.

Article was vetted by two eagle-eyed friends; now just awaiting confirmation from the person who recommended I submit it that it's OK to say so in the cover letter. (I should have asked when we were talking...!!)

Did a bit more in getting back to the medieval article as well.

Teaching shortly, so PPt prep now.

More tomorrow.

Gonna come as close as I can to finishing this next section today.

I had a bad day and wasn't able to spend as much time on this as I expected. I read a couple of articles and wrote a bit, but not enough. Hopefully I can finish it tomorrow, though. After that, I need to finish a new section every three days to keep to my schedule.

Sent.

Now the waiting, and work on the article and other stuff that were set aside to turn that around.

Hopefully I can wrap up that section today.

Ugh, the blasted thing defies me. Tomorrow, then, and that's the end of it. I can't afford to waste more days on it.

Finishing the section, starting another.

Finishing the section, starting another.

Read three articles, wrote a few hundred words. If things go well tomorrow, I can probably finish it early the next day.

Tinkered with the conference abstract, decided more certainly which topic it is to be on (there were other options, but they all faded before the final choice), and got more done on the medieval article.

Getting back in the traces...(what, I just turned in something, whaddya mean I need to keep going on all those other things!!??)

Working on this new section today. Finishing it is within reach if I'm lucky and get a little more time than usual.
