January Goals

  • Finalize revision with two colleagues for recent rejection
  • Finalize revision with colleague and student for rejection from Fall
  • Continue working on long-term project with students
  • Submit conference proposal due early January

I had not heard anything from my two colleagues on the rejected manuscript, so I sent an email. First author sent back a revision in progress to submit to a different journal. I made more edits and send it back with three issues. First author said hu will address them and submit this weekend, yay!

Today I woke up to a R&R with my subfield colleague with a very short turnaround for major revisions. Thus, we got started on those today. Time to hustle!

I also got the news from the Provost that my sabbatical is approved! I am so excited to get to focus more on my long-term project in the forthcoming academic year.

You are chugging along there!!

Go!!

I got more reading done and some more editing.

Might be able to omit a section as distending the paper's scope, and do a focused piece on that part later.

Teaching shortly, and all day tomorrow; back on Saturday.

I would have liked to finish the section today, but various constraints make it seem unlikely.

I got lucky with time and finished it!

I wrote 1647 words, and read three articles. Whew! It's not my best section, but it'll do. On to the next one...
I know it's a genus.

Just reading today. The day hasn't started well, though, so we'll see what happens.
I know it's a genus.

Read four articles, which isn't bad, considering.
I know it's a genus.

Working with visual sources at present; more to do on those, then lunch, then article stuff.

Kept going with vis. sources, got all 2000+ filed, categorized, and backed up for use in 3 ongoing projects.

Much self-back-patting would be going on now, were such a thing anatomically possible...

We'll see what I manage today. I'd like to get most of the way done this section.
I know it's a genus.

Read the last three articles for this section, and wrote a couple hundred words. I'll do what I can to finish it off tomorrow.
I know it's a genus.

Got through labeling and annotating my lists for one full set of photos and found materials to work from and type up tomorrow.

Conference paper:

  • Present it!
Dissertation:

  • Prospectus: update for distribution
  • Chapter 1: begin revising
  • Chapter 2:

    • write 3,000 words for 9,500 total
    • begin incorporating conference paper

Wrote 300 words this morning, which puts me right at 3,000 for the month. Getting sick last week didn't help my productivity.

I presented the conference paper a while ago. I think it went well, but the questions I got were not at all what I'd anticipated.

And I've (barely) started to revise Chapter 1, so that means I've technically hit every January goal but one.
