Looks like rejected manuscript edits are ready and it will be submitted today to a different journal by my coauthor.

I worked on revisions for the recent R&R today. The other manuscript submitted the same day as this one in November is still not even under review yet, yikes! I asked my coauthor to email the editors, since it is not assigned to an editor yet after more than two months. That is the way the story goes, sometimes!

Okok, finishing that section today.

Wrote about 1650 words tofinish it, then figured out the biblio for the next one and read two articles.
I know it's a genus.

I'm a little hard up for time today, but I'll continue working on this new section. I should try to read a few articles and write a couple hundred words.
I know it's a genus.

Tinkering with a couple of tangled paragraphs today.

Teaching in 3 hours...yum, yum, time....

I had so many plans for the month and then classes started.

I've got 15 contact hours this semester, and that + re-working things to be hybrid and dealing with covering for colleagues out quarantining has been... interesting.

I've got a pre-proposal I need to get in at the end of the month, and then two larger collaborative grant submissions in early Feb, so that + keeping my thesis students plugging away is all I'm managing at the moment.

Actually reading posts before responding to them seems to be a problem for a number of people on here...

mamselle

More work on the tangle-y paragraphs done--have to teach shortly.

Found out the submitted article has been forwarded to the main journal; may mean more work, may be a better venue...

There's actually a longer article that could take its place if it's going there, I'll have to look at their guidelines and see what would fit.

On va voir...

January tasks:

  • Finalize and submit book chapter draft - due January 31
  • Submit paper #1
  • Submit paper #2
  • Work with co-author to figure out framework for paper #3 and, if we can agree, outline and begin drafting
  • Get my RAs back to work on two projects that will, I hope, become books; and on my end, make some progress on developing/drafting book proposals

Stretch goals for January:

  • IRB for ongoing project
  • Explore literature on topic I've become interested in to see if/how I can make a meaningful contribution
  • Deal with any rejections/R&Rs that come my way

Crossing out a couple more things. The book chapter is also done, but I'll wait till the due date (1/31) to submit it.

Read three, wrote 400.

    • CPS R&R- draft cover letter with co-authors, do actual R'ring when they respond- still waiting on them
    • MA student #1's R&R- cover letter feedback round 2--She should be nearly ready to resubmit- one more round?
    • PhD student 1 & 2's R&R- feedback on drafts as they work on revisions- they are making good progress, new analyses done
    • Final steps for grant due 2/5: update biosketch, update budget, proof and finalize refs, consortium docs
    • PhD student 3's 1st year proposal-- keep working with her on drafts- round 3 down, nearly there!
    • MA student 2's thesis proposal-- keep working with him on drafts- 1 round down, waiting for his next draft
    • Reviewing: fellowship, DPP-1, DPP-2, CPR

More reading, more writing of this section. I'd like to get far enough along to finish tomorrow, but that seems doubtful. Sigh.

The hatchling had a marathon nap, so I had a marathon reading session of six articles totaling 132 pages (including a monstrous 45-page article). That's way too much philosophy for one day.

I also wrote 600 words, though.

Got more text untangled, need to do a bit of reading, also.

Probably tomorrow, coupled with some teaching prep.

I registered for two conferences yesterday and set up a meeting next week with the colleague and student to advance our rejected manuscript through revision. On the new study, I am going to send out one more request for participants to see if we can conduct a few more interviews. I am also working on the R&R that only gave me one month to complete, but my coauthor has been incognito which is frustrating. The article submitted the same day as that one in a different journal is not even under review yet, and the editor has ignored my email asking for a status update. We might have to pull that one and put it into a different journal.

Parasaurolophus

With luck, will finish this section today.
