I'll do my best to finish the section today.
I know it's a genus.

Did more reading, which really helped to untangle things. Edited the areas it affected, might really be able to tame the weeds and make a lawn garden out of this yet.

Still more to do, but rounding the bend to the end.

Other work, of course, still pending.

Didn't get to everything this month, but made progress on everything and got the baby grad students through their proposals (SO MANY DRAFTS). On to Feb!

  • CPS R&R- draft cover letter with co-authors, do actual R'ring when they respond- still waiting on them
  • MA student #1's R&R
  • PhD student 1 & 2's R&R- feedback on drafts as they work on revisions- they are making good progress, new analyses done
  • Final steps for grant due 2/5: update biosketch, update budget, proof and finalize refs, consortium docs
  • PhD student 3's 1st year proposal
  • MA student 2's thesis proposal-
  • Reviewing: fellowship, DPP-1, DPP-2, CPR

January Goals

  • Finalize revision with two colleagues for recent rejection
  • Finalize revision with colleague and student for rejection from Fall
  • Continue working on long-term project with students
  • Submit conference proposal due early January

Meeting with my colleague and student tomorrow to work on the revision in my goals. I have done essentially nothing for the long-term project in January. I want to do more in February but I have so many books to read to consider for a new course prep in summer to finish before March.

I'll do my best to finish the section today.

Done! I read three articles and wrote 1500 words. The book is now 60% done!
I know it's a genus.

Goals for the month:

  • Write ten more book sections.

I wrote 9. I'm fine with that. Some of the sections were on entirely new material, so it takes a lot of time to work them up!

January tasks:

  • Finalize and submit book chapter draft - due January 31
  • Submit paper #1
  • Submit paper #2
  • Work with co-author to figure out framework for paper #3 and, if we can agree, outline and begin drafting
  • Get my RAs back to work on two projects that will, I hope, become books; and on my end, make some progress on developing/drafting book proposals

Stretch goals for January:

  • IRB for ongoing project
  • Explore literature on topic I've become interested in to see if/how I can make a meaningful contribution
  • Deal with any rejections/R&Rs that come my way
