Looks like I'm up first, so here goes:

1. Do final section edits on the article-in-process, then start an overall edit pass to wrestle it into final shape, and a couple of revision passes to finish it
off. Send in to the relevant friendly-reader folks to be sure I haven't said anything untoward, do a final revision, and submit.

2. Get back to the 'other' article that was suddenly suggested last month. Decide whether to let the shorter version go through the mill first, or offer to re-
do in order to meet the longer length their annual journal takes. Or wait & see what they say; only send it if they ask me to. Decide soon in any case.

3. Return to the Ppt and figure out what it's going to be when it grows up. Podcast? Teaching series? Online course? I've never done this before, need help
sorting out the options. Whatever, it needs to get up there and be seen to do any good, so...get on it.

4. Then, get back to the book chapters that tie to some of the other stuff but are indeed their own thing.
    a. Finish typing in all the hand-written analysis from readings
    b. Go through Intro and Chpt 1 and get them in order
    c. Send out to friendly readers for input, revise, and re-revise again.
    d. (Gulp) do query letter and send chapters in to my #1 choice and see what happens.
    e. (Probably) Repeat, rinse, repeat until I get a bite (hopefully earlier on the list rather than later)

5. There are more things lined up in the pipeline, of course, so start thinking about which ones will replace the above as those get done (as they will be!!!)

Today: 1. and a little bit on 2.

Read three articles, wrote about 600 words, read 1/4 of the REB proposal, and emailed my delinquents.

Ancient Fellow

This month, I am determined to finish revising and resubmitting an article that due to the pandemic and lack of library access has been lingering for-bloody-ever.

- incorporate material from book 1
- incorporate material from book 2
- incorporate material from article 1
- revisit and smooth entire narrative
- resubmit

February: Decide on target press for Monograph #2. Do I go with Open Access or a more traditional publisher? I have so many questions and doubts ugh.

February Goals:

  • Make progress on book proposal
  • Make progress on paper #1 with colleague
  • Start sketching out plans for paper #2 (maybe #s 2 and 3) with colleague
  • Turn around conditionally accepted paper

Stretch goal:
  • Start thinking through book proposal #2

I'll also need to deal with any R&Rs or rejections that come my way and decide if/how to engage with colleague's grant proposal.

Gotta write, gotta read, should continue evaluating that REB proposal.

I made a lot of progress on the revision with my subfield colleague due this month yesterday and this morning. I have more time to work on it this afternoon. I am feeling very good about getting that done despite having such a short time frame.

Last night I had a nice meeting with my colleague and student for getting our rejected manuscript submitted elsewhere soon. The student had identified a potential journal, but we realized despite its name and even aims/scope, it was geared toward a specific field that differed from what its name would infer as it relates to our study. I found another journal that we all agreed on for submission. I think everyone will get their work going by this weekend so we can get that submitted soon.

A call for conference proposals is out for a conference later this year, and I think I have potentially two projects that could fit. However, I am really far behind on the long-term project which is on one of those. I hope to get back to it soon once I get through these manuscripts.

Lastly, I was part of a team that had an "accept with minor revisions" a few months ago. I got the manuscript last night after others made revisions, as I was designated the "closer." I spent my late evening finalizing it and we got it resubmitted last night!

February goals:

  • Revise prospectus for distribution (I have no interest in doing this, but it must be done)
  • Finish draft of Chapter 2 (3-4k more words?)
Today: 600 words written.

Gotta write, gotta read, should continue evaluating that REB proposal.

900 words, 3 articles, another 7 pages of the REB proposal.

I also got a CFP for a volume on something near and dear to my heart today, so... I'm gonna have to put together a proposal by early April. So much to do!
I know it's a genus.

Parasaurolophus

I have a long meeting which will interfere, but I'd like to more or less finish this section today.

I've done a handshake email between my writing coach and the IT fellow I plan to work with to do an online setup of some of my Ppt studies that don't seem to "fit" in standard publishing settings.

That will move item 3. closer to reality/something like public awareness...maybe.

Doing the proposal-type listing of methods and strategies for our work together now.

More editing of the ongoing article after lunch; teaching at 6:30 PM.
