So, here we go!

Still working out details on the article-that-wants-me-to-finish-it-now, and getting closer.

More detailed goals after I figure them out.

Twenty-eight days is really too short for a month.

February should be longer--but I know that won't work...

It's crunch time for finishing the book. 13 more sections to go. So, in March:

  • Write 8-10 sections.
  • Write and submit chapter abstract for a fun CFP I saw.
I know it's a genus.

Last week went quite well.

Goals for the week of Feb 20:

1. Continue work on new journal article (tightening argument/adding secondary resources).
2. Read and write up thoughts on another primary source text for book 2 chapter.
3. Read and write up thoughts on one new primary source for book 1 chapter revisions.
4. Continue applying to every fitting job.

Goals for the first week of March:

1. Continue with steady work on the journal article.
2. Read and write notes on the rest of my potential primary sources for book 2 chapter.
3. Work through very long potential primary source addition for book 1 chapter revisions.

Have a good week!

OK, based on February's work:

1. Two paragraphs to go on the article-in-process; start overall edit and a revision to finish it off. Send to friendly-readers, do a final revision, and submit.

2. Did enough more on the 3/28 Ppt updates (quick and easy) that it's done; might tweak once more before giving it, but it's essentially finished.

3.  Started the Ppt for the 4/29 talk; it combines previous work from two different strands of resources (verbal and visual), have to blend and explicate.

4. Invited to do a book review by the group for which I did an earlier blog-post, due July 1. Started a file on that, got the book, now, to start reading.

5. The shorter version of an article based on the above invited blog-post was suggested in January and submitted in Feb. for a different group's quarterly;
it was bumped up for consideration for the annual (better) journal: re-doing to meet greater length and more precise submission standards, due Aug 1.

6. Finish the plan (started) to work with an IT support person to post the Ppt, whether as a podcast, teaching series, online course, or some combination
of those. I want to post it and have it be seen...have been taking notes on those I've attended or watched online for ideas. Keep going.

7. The book chapters tied to the above have been bumped down due to two more recent deadlines upcoming; still need to be done.
    a. Finish typing in all the hand-written analysis from readings for Intro and Chpt 1, the two chapters I'll submit on query
    b. Go through Intro and Chpt 1, put in order
    c. Send out to friendly readers for input, revise, and re-revise again.
    d. Do query letter; send chapters to #1 choice, see what happens.
    e. (Probably) Repeat, rinse, repeat until I get a bite (hopefully earlier on the list rather than later)

It's interesting to see how things developed (and some grew) over the space of a month's work. This is more precise than I've been able to be in awhile; I  find it encouraging for an unattached/independent scholar in the humanities, although it may seem like small potatoes in the wider academic universe.

Excelsior (onwards and upwards).

Had a root canalized this morning (thanks, pandemic!),so the day is mostly shot thanks to going to town. Some writing and maybe reading would be good.
I know it's a genus.

Gnawing away at that paragraph....thanks for the metaphor, Para!
