I wrote two-thirds of my conference proposal today! I am excited to get it finished before the deadline.

I want to finish this section today. It'll be tough, though.

Had lots of time, so I did it, read two for the next, and did a little newslettering.
I know it's a genus.

Yea!

I'm getting some lookups done, but today's a mostly-teach8ng day, so I'll be more focused on tomorrow.

A little editing, lotsa reading for the new section today.

Small time-windfall, 10 AM student had to postpone, so I'm getting some more editing in.

Ppt. research will have to wait until tomorrow, though; still have to prep this afternoon's class after lunch.

Snack of sesame crackers and a Babybel to fuel the editing....and tea, of course...

I just finished drafting the conference proposal. My coauthor did some work on it earlier today and will finalize it tomorrow. Then we can submit, yahoo!

More work on the Ppt and article today.

Check-in with a friend at 7:30, we'll see what I can brag about then.

Ready, set...

I'll be honest. I had some big presentations back in March. I was so busy with those preparations that I couldn't even carve out the time to talk about them here, in the Feb/March threads.

I'm burnt out, and I had no plans to do anything in April except rest and recover (and, oh yeah, show up and teach and try not to fall asleep or piss someone off someone at meetings for the remainder of the semester).

Then yesterday, I got an email from a collaborator asking me WTF?!? about a project I was doing with her. OK, first step, return her email and apologize, then get re-started on what I put on the back burner.

mamselle

Welcome back!

Presentations are as much performative art as they are research, writing, and speaking.

That extra dimension can be draining, even when you're used to doing it in other ways (I used to leave a playing job exhausted, having to drive myself home, and with no-one to share the emotional load when I got there.)

So, self-care is crucial; glad they went so well, and that you can get back to the work.

Sometimes the carrot-stick mechanism gets stuck and we all need a bit of a re-boot....here's to good results with your collaborator.

Check in whenever it's useful.

The prospectus is finally ready! I'll look it over again on Monday morning before sending it. And I've made a good start on author P's major work over the past week or two (about 20% done).

So, within 4 pages of going through the full text for citations and fact-checking, and just a few splotchy highlighted reminders left on the rest of the text to go.

Notes need more work, but at least I didn't increase the page count on either the text or the notes, and going through both again should knock out a couple more pages' too-loosely constructed prose.

Tiny bits of work on the PPt, but getting this article done will clear more brain cells for that, so, it's all to the good.

Dinner.
