Sorry to hear you're under-the-weather!

Masks are, indeed, useful against colds, I haven't had one in 2 years, now.

My plan: I hr, article
     Lunch.
   3 hours, Ppt
   Student prep, dinner, folk dance

M.

Plan worked, good progress on article cleanup and 2 Ppt slides more/less done.

Onwards and upwards.

Thanks!

I caught something (not covid), and feel like crap. Still, I should Newsletter and do some writing and reading.

Read four, wrote about 800 words.
I know it's a genus.

Oh, and my April goals are:

1) Start revision of conference paper. At least 1000 new words.
2) Read for paper proposal for one conference and submit by end of month.

More ambitious goals to come for May, i.e., complete draft of revised conference paper.

Welcome to the thread, whistle_nutz!

Today, I want to finish this section.
I know it's a genus.

Same plan as yesterday, since it worked:

   I hr, article
     Lunch.
   3 hours, Ppt
   Student prep,
   Teach x 2
   Dinner

Had a couple of mini-ideas about some projects I've wanted to start but don't want to get distracted by.

I'm emailing short bits of ideas to myself as they occur, to be caught up later and turned into an outline/armature for the shorter articles that don't need as much prep but do deserve to see the light of day (in my estimation).

I already do that when hit by a good idea while drifting off to sleep, when I don't want to fully wake up--I grab the phone, type in the gist of it, hit send, and do it in the AM.

I'll be interested to see how it goes.

Today, I want to finish this section.

Whew! I also read another third of the paper I'm refereeing, and did a little Newslettering.
I know it's a genus.

Parasaurolophus

Reading for a new section today. I anticipate many interruptions.

More of the same, starting now!

Read 3.5, which isn't so bad.

Another interrupted day, so just reading to be done today.

This morning, the chapter proposal I sent at the end of last month was accepted, so that's nice! It's for a popular-facing series, so won't count for much, but it'll be a labour of love.

Good for you!

I did about 45 min. work on the article, before teaching my 10 AM student, and just now, after her lesson, did an hour on the PPt.

Have to prep theory class after lunch, so next work installments will be all day (hopefully) tomorrow.

Today: errands x 1 hr now, then home to work for the rest of the day.

1 hr clean-up
1 hr article notes
Lunch
3-5 hrs Ppt work: Dict. Citations, stemma, visuals, start commentary article t/b read alongside.
Dinner, etc.

I'm swamped with teaching for the next month, but I hope to do the following:
- Make progress on paper #1 with colleague
- Make progress on paper #2 with colleague
- Revise and resubmit book chapter
- Revise paper for late-April workshop/conference - maybe submit to journal as well
- Revise and (if time permits) submit paper #3 with colleague

Stretch goals (these will take center stage this summer):
- Get two new papers off the ground
- Make progress on book proposal

I'll also need to deal with R&Rs or rejections that come my way

I had an article rejected last week, so I'm adding a new task to my list. That said, this month has been so busy that I'm struggling to get anything done even at the margins.

Some writing and reading today. Gotta set myself up to finish the section tomorrow.

Ugh.

I've just discovered that I've published not one but two articles with a graph describing the percentage breakdown of different elements over the course of fifty years, where -- for reasons I'm now trying to discover -- every single year adds up to somewhere between 137% and 139%.

How. The. Heck.
