September Research Thread

Between now and Thursday, my only goal is to finish revisions on this paper. I've gotten the responses to reviewers done, but now I need to follow through on all those bits where I promise 'We have clarified this issue on pg XXX', and actually go to page XXX and clarify it. Blargh. I hate revisions so much. I also hate first drafts. Pretty much the only part of writing papers that I like is editing the drafts to clarify the reasoning and tighten the prose. That bit's fun. The rest sucks.

I got back from abroad yesterday so today I had a few meetings (research-related) and now am about to get back to my sabbatical project after a week off while traveling. I also have an interview with someone related to my research fellowship project this afternoon.

Did more lookups on one of my elusive 18th c. critters. Still no joy, but I can say I looked.

Today was focused on journal editor duties. We had a few meetings and worked on the conference presentation for next month. Tomorrow I plan to review a manuscript for a journal as a guest reviewer and get back to my sabbatical project. I also have a meeting for my research fellowship.

Completely finished with R&R revisions and drafted cover letter, but still need to thoroughly proofread both. In particular, the manuscript is about 1000 pages over the word limit. I'll work on that next week.
