Mostly teaching after a long-ish meeting; maybe some more editing after teaching tonight.

My goal for the summer was to get 3 papers submitted.  I'm a couple of weeks late, but I just hit the submit button for #3 this afternoon.  Fingers crossed.

Your crest must be glowing and your scales shining with pride, Para!

Good on you.

My work got tabled for tomorrow.

September Goals

  • Work on follow-up study manuscript with coauthors
  • Prepare scholarly essay with friend to submit to identified journal
  • Continue with sabbatical project (lots of reading literature)
  • Make progress on fellowship project - preliminary report due 10/4
  • Make presentation slides for late September virtual conference
  • Review 2 manuscripts for different journals

I was able to finish my presentation slides today for the presentation in two weeks. I also reviewed one of the manuscripts on Friday and submitted the review. I read the other manuscript this afternoon and am going to try to finish the review tonight or as soon as I can. We had a good meeting Friday for the fellowship project and split up what we need to write for the report draft due 10/4. I have been quite behind on my sabbatical project so I hope to get back to it tomorrow. I also randomly saw a call for case studies this weekend and submitted one that was rejected four years ago with some minor updates based on the requirements. I already got edits back today from the person I wrote to and submitted to revision back! It sounds like I can get it published in January!

Parasaurolophus

Today, the writing I do will be on a chapter due in a while, I think.

Today I submitted the second manuscript review. I also had a great meeting with a stakeholder on the fellowship project, and found out a colleague from my doctoral student days is the contact person I was trying to find next. We are finding a time to meet soon too. I did not get to my sabbatical project today (argh) but was miraculously able to get a student's committee to respond to scheduling a proposal defense in a few hours and have multiple days/times to choose from for later this semester, which blew my mind! Though I am on sabbatical, I am determined to get this student moving along since hu wants to graduate in May (using secondary sources for data, no need for intense data collection). I received questions to prepare to answer for the organization board that is considering my book proposal next week, and now I am thoroughly nervous and worried about the process. I anticipate not being able to move forward (because I want to solo author the book, and this organization only seems to publish edited books and wants me to edit the book instead of write it).

Got a half-a-page edited between a call and a student.

More tomorrow.

Did a bit, but not as much as I'd have liked.

I suppose I'll do some more on that chapter today, though I don't anticipate having much time for it.

Worked all weekend on revisions, and got those in on Monday. Took Tuesday off, because I deserve at least ONE day off, and am catching up on student stuff today. Working on sabbatical project tomorrow, I hope!
