The 'retorts to reviewers' page has been up recently, if you feel like some very pointed venting....

At least they're still saying "resubmit," right?

Just here to say....a fourth revise and resubmit decision on the manuscript with my subfield colleague. ARGHHHHHHHHHH

That is criminal. Editors should not allow it.

I suppose I'll do some more on that chapter today, though I don't anticipate having much time for it.

Wrote ~500 words, and a 500-word report, and read an article.
I know it's a genus.

Parasaurolophus

No time to write today, but I should have a chance to do some reading later.

Editing now.

Starting to fall for a delayed K'zoo conference abstract submission date...wisdom needed.

Not even. Had no time at all.
I know it's a genus.

2.5 pages done; title for submission considered.

I don't expect to achieve much of anything today. Just some reading, if I can.

I just wrote a really, really clever script to manipulate my stimuli. Most of it I'd already written as a post-doc, but (a) it was well commented and easy to update (yay past me!) and (b) I've refined it and it's really, really clever now.

Decent first draft of the abstract is within 30 words of the limit.

Pruning to commence after lunch.

Theory class and a late student starting at 4:30.

Gonna be a late-nighter...but it shouldn't be hard.

September goals:

  • Make progress on paper #1 with colleague
  • Complete draft of paper #2 with colleague (conference paper due in about a week)
  • Revise and submit paper #3 with colleague to new journal
  • Revise and submit paper #4 with colleagues to new journal (lots of foot dragging on colleague's end, so not sure we'll get this one submitted, even though necessary revisions are modest)
  • Revise (solo) paper #5 for resubmission (due back to journal in late October)

Since my coauthors are busy with other things and our papers are in their hands, I was able to focus on my solo R&R this week and I sent it back to the journal today. The revisions were fairly minor and I did everything the reviewers asked so I'm hoping for a positive outcome, but we'll see. Fingers crossed.

My coauthor and I got the revisions and submitted the fifth version within 24 hours. If it is not accepted at this point I may tear my hair out.

Today four wonderful panelists joined me to record our conference session for our virtual attendees. The conference is a month from today and we look forward to the in-person panel, but our one-shot recording without rehearsal was truly perfect, and I realized we met the exact time required after I processed the recording!

I also did some prep work for my book proposal "tribunal" next week. I am really nervous about it but at least it will be over soon.

I also was asked to be on a task force for a journal whose board I serve on in terms of identifying women to serve as future editors. Up to this point, all editors have been men, and in March at our board meeting, this came up. It was an amazing group assembled to discuss this today, but all of us are on the "short list" of "qualified" women and no one was available for the role (or was not yet tenured). A few of us already edit other journals.

Good for you for the turnaround and all the other good work.

Finished teaching class, student in 15 min., then the final polishing on the abstract to go.

Nope, the whole day was sucked up.

OK, last student done...can this abstract get finished and in?

Probably...
