Dread about this paper is slowly giving way to muted excitement.
3 potential journals identified
Intro and lit  review outlined
Methods pretty close to finished
Next is organizing the results.

mamselle

Got a section coherently assembled.

Distillation commences tomorrow.

M.
Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

Reprove not a scorner, lest they hate thee: rebuke the wise, and they will love thee.

Give instruction to the wise, and they will be yet wiser: teach the just, and they will increase in learning.

Parasaurolophus

I've got a bit of time to read today, so that.
I know it's a genus.

mamselle

Distillation and filling in some dates, places, and footnotes.

Three students this afternoon, so starting now.

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

Reprove not a scorner, lest they hate thee: rebuke the wise, and they will love thee.

Give instruction to the wise, and they will be yet wiser: teach the just, and they will increase in learning.

Thanks, Para!

October progress so far: 900 words (on target for stretch goal).

mamselle

Got good editing and fact-checking done.

Going to rest a bit before all those students descend on me.

Read two, managed some class work too.

Survived all the students, who actually did well and stuck to the time plan.

Not a bushed as I expected, but no brain cells left for more editing now.

A demain.

#23
Spent several hours reading through the data again.
Talked my way through the first paragraphs while I was doing a 3-mile walk, without actually writing. (I've done this off and on since high school but not for a couple of years. Continuing to see how this paper works internally and fits the journal.) I hope.

October goals:
  • Finish and submit paper #1 with colleague
  • Make progress on paper #2 with colleague - I'm taking the lead on the data analysis and will probably turn to this once paper #1 has been submitted
  • Make progress on paper #3 with colleagues - ball is in colleague's court and this is low priority for me
  • Make progress on paper #4 with colleague - ball is in colleague's court and this is low priority for me
  • Make progress on R&R with colleague - due in mid-November

Submitted paper #1 today. It is at a long-shot journal, so I expect a rejection, but at least it should be off my plate for a while. Now I will turn my attention to the R&R.

Parasaurolophus

I should work on something today, but I'm not sure what. I'll read a bit for 2023 later, but right now, I should write... something.
I know it's a genus.

traductio

Got the reader reports to my book manuscript Wednesday and finally got up the nerve to read them this morning. There are three. They're all very thoughtful, and they all raise points that to deal with (and deal with them I must, not just because the press wants me to, but because they're right), I'm going to be doing a lot of writing from scratch.

The book will be better for it, but also delayed from what I had hoped.

Indexed and started reworking my conference panel paper. Those were the right things to work on today.

Oof. Keep yer stick on the ice!
I know it's a genus.

Tiny bit more indexing to be done today, I hope. It's hard to do without the page numbers, though. Sigh.
I know it's a genus.
