Thenone or two  I was thinking of...one is a regional Econ journal, another is newslettery as well in Philosophy.

i also didn't get the point, but i decided to answer slightly more specifically.

Myword

general social science is so broad, it is useless. Most journals are very specific and narrow focused. I know of a great many with a sole editor. Most of my articles are sent to these independent ones.

I'm not going to out my discipline either, but I will say that I can't think of any journals that fit this description. We tend to have university-affiliated, non-profit organization-affiliated, and some managed by publishing conglomerates, but even many of those are somehow affiliated with a uni or org. In our field, the sketchy ones are the new unaffiliated journals run by major publishers who are clearly trying to break into our field, presumably to turn a profit? It's a peculiar trend.
