Today, my translation quota plus teaching stuff. Perhaps some additional symposium work? Or maybe I'll start reading for another referee report.
I know it's a genus.

Started some Newsletter stuff, too.

Submitted the IRB paperwork for the next phase of the project.  Not too difficult but it took most of the day.

I finally heard from the IT person who (luckily) recognized I made a few errors in my file naming, so I have to make some fixes in the library, which probably will not happen until April. I also was able to get the repository spreadsheet started finally. I made a little progress on analysis and expanded my presentation slides for the conference next week, but have a long way to go. I really need to use my monitor on my desk, so working on my laptop alone slowed my progress with so many tabs, files, and notes to look at for this project.

Small grant application denied. Oh well, I'm not surprised.

Submitting a request to have conference expenses covered today, which is pretty involved. Also presenting some courses to the Senate. Then my quota and maybe start turning the symposium bit into a presentation, or something.

Made progress on my presentation but it still is not done. Alas, I will have to finish it over the weekend. I did clean up some issues with my data spreadsheets and learned more tricks from my spouse. Hu seemed surprised I did not know what hu considers to be essential spreadsheet techniques but I am grateful to learn them now! I used to joke hu was the "wrong kind of engineer" because hu could never fix things in our house, but today hu turned to me and asked, "Still think I am the wrong kind of engineer?" after helping me with my spreadsheet errors. Well played, spouse!

Only managed the meeting and the funding application. Ugh. Oh well.

One set of proofs have arrived and I've reviewed them. I need to organize materials for an article that's due in a couple months, but I'm fighting the temptation to dig into research for a summertime conference paper. Must focus!

Taking the day off, not that I know how any more. The hatchling is two.

This essentially happened again. I sat down to work on my presentation, found lots of errors in my spreadsheets and pivot tables again, spouse came to the rescue, and I made more progress. I still am not finished with it, and I really only have until tomorrow. Monday is completed packed, and I leave for the conference on Tuesday.

Travelling today, expect no progress.

I chuckle because three days in a row, I needed my spouse to help me. Hu tells me it is easier to do all of the fun stuff in Excel rather than in Google Sheets, but I guess I had to make it harder on us. I finished my presentation today (whew).

Quota and the special issue.

Quota and the special issue.

Quota, ~600 words, touched up the symposium piece and sent it to the guest of honour, and prepared an abstract and bio for a chapter I wrote ages ago and which now needs them.

Travelling back today, so nothing.
