Parasaurolophus

Quote from: Parasaurolophus on June 04, 2024, 03:32:07 PMI was advised today that the chapter due in August requires a draft by June 30. That's okay, because I was planning to have a draft done by then, but still. Eep!

Today: I need to get a bit of writing in.

Various things scuppered my work day, but I did at least get about 400 words in, and I'm starting to see my way through the section.
I know it's a genus.

Well, I'd like to write, but it won't be til this afternoon and I'm operating with only a couple hours' sleep, so we'll see.

Managed 650 words. Hopefully I can work in a nap, too.

Only about 200 words this morning towards the book, will see what the p.m. holds...

Met with the editor of another press for what I guess will be T5? Though they also expressed interest in T4, which is nice since it may otherwise struggle to find a publisher, and the monograph I'm slowly working on, although I think I'll save that for a couple of other presses which are better fits for it.

But anyway, T5 is a fun idea--a collection of smaller, forgotten but super interesting and important, texts from the early modern and modern eras. I'm glad they're keen on it, because this kind of format is going to be the only way to get most of those texts out there.

Anyway, I've got to get some intro writing for T2 done today.

  • Make progress on paper #1 (with colleagues) - we should be sending this off to a journal by the end of the month
  • Make progress on paper #2 (with colleague) - presenting at conference in June
  • Make progress on paper #3 (with colleague) - R&R due in June, ball is in colleague's court
  • Make progress on paper #4 (with colleague) - R&R due in early July, ball is in my court
  • Make progress on paper #5 (with colleagues) - presenting at conference in August
  • Make progress on book #1 (with colleague) - it would be good to polish the chapters I wrote a couple of months ago, start another one, and fire a coal under my coauthor
  • Make progress on book #2 (solo) - hoping to receive contract soon

I focused on paper #2 yesterday. I think it is conference ready at this point.

Today the focus is on paper #3 - which I hope to pass back to my coauthor on Friday for final review and submission.

Yesterday I spent about three hours in the library working on the book manuscript and got started on another chapter. Today I formatted the partially written chapters in the publisher's preferred format, then continued with the chapter I started yesterday. I am at 2,200 words on that chapter, which is a good start. I am waiting on an interlibrary loan for a section of it.

Parasaurolophus

Got about 1300 words on, and things are starting to shape up.

I have a pile of errands to run today, so I'm not sure I'll have much time. But I'll try to get in a little writing for T2.

Good progress on paper #3 today. I sent it back to my coauthor and it is almost ready to resubmit.

I'll start dealing with paper #4 next week.

Got in a few hundred.

I've got some fiddly, time-consuming citation tracking to do (I stupidly cited my translation, rather than the original). So today is a day to get that sorted.

Got most of it sorted. Three pages left to go. It's pretty time consuming.

Today, I'll finish that citation-hunting, and then do a bit more of the section writing up/cleaning up, though time will be tight.
