Alas and alackaday, the new semester begins (or has begun, for those of you who start in mid/late August).

Monthly goals:

  • Read for book review.
  • Write book review
  • Start on a co-authored paper
  • Keep plugging away at the book
  • Indexing and proofs for T3?

Today, however, I'm just finishing the leftover referee report from August.
I know it's a genus.

Done.

Not sure about today's task. Writing something, I think. The book? Could also make a start on the co-authored thing, except that I don't think I have my notes on the backup computer. Hmmm.

No writing; read for the review and a new article.

Getting my laptop back today, so writing will be easier, although I don't expect to get much of that done. I will, however, read for the book review. And teach--ugh.

Did a bit of the reading.

September Goals
  • Submit manuscript review (did it today!)
  • Review materials for external review letter due in October

So this feels weird but besides my usual journal editor and IRB chair duties and an external P&T review for another institution due next month, I am sticking with my "say no to new projects" mantra this semester thus far. I anticipate I will need all available time when I am not grading at the end of the semester to revise my book manuscript once I get feedback in mid-November. I may get revisions back this semester on some manuscripts but otherwise might be fairly quiet on the research front this month!

Parasaurolophus

I'd like to get some writing done today, but between teacahing this morning and my partner needing prep time, I'm not sure I'll get there. But surely I'll accomplish something.

Correction to the last chapter. Got a book from interlibrary loan and should be done with the corrections by the end of the day.

Nope, nothing. Hatchling refused to nap today.

Today, then. Though I know not what.

I completed the external review today and submitted my letter! Though I feel a little strange still for not having piles of in-progress research of writing to do, I got asked to serve on a search committee yesterday and the service stuff is adding up. I suppose that was to be expected when I got promoted this year.

550 words of a new chapter. Bit of a struggle, but starting is he hardest part.

More time today, so working on the new chapter and reading for the book review.
