IHE: Boston U Suspends Humanities PhD Admissions

The grad students' $45,000 + tuition (at my alma mater, that would be in the neighborhood of $20,000 for 2 semesters) isn't much less than my first FT contract. I'm always left thinking I was born either too soon or too late.

And don't forget that everywhere I have been grad student appointments are 50%FTEs for the paid part of their job (leaving time for the "student" part), so this is the equivalent of $90,000 (plus tuition and benefits)if you extrapolate to a full time position...

Where I was a grad student seven years ago, the stipend was and remains 20k CAD, out of which you had/have to pay your tuition (a few thousand).

The postdoc I had, however, now pays twice as much as it did (80k), which is more than I earned my first few years here.
