I was with you till you blithely stated that it was ok that you had to wait a couple months to get your free dermatologist appt, because all your moles turned out to be benign.  Lottsa bad things could have happened to cancerous ones in a couple months.

Mamdani and the Moguls of Madness

I liked the first comment in reaction to this post:
"London, a city which is a bit like New York, has re-elected its Democratic Socialist, Muslim, Mayor for the third time. He's excellent."

All very true. Sadiq Khan is a wonderful Mayor.

Thank you for sharing thus.

Yes, rally around the candidate or find better centrists... if there are any?

Judging from returns by election precinct, Mamdani seems to have carried the "have" vote, but lost the "have more" vote and the "have nots'" vote.

Bad tongues claim that the "haves" camouflage their envy of the "have mores" as sympathy for the "have nots".

Rings true to me, and this NY City Democratic vote is starker than the national vote of both parties together.

With such titration, its really hard to make anything of this vote and various anecdotes or polls other than we have to abide by it (the primary vote) for the time being.

People who agree with him should rally behind him, people who don't agree with him have some other choices, flawed though they might be.

By the way, I have to wait months for many of my docs, and they ain't free. So far, no life threatening ailments, but it could be (though if you or family doc really suspect something bad, I suppose schedule can be accelerated).

I would call it tritration.

Why does wanting an overall higher quality of living translate to "envy?"

Alternatively many middle-class people can't avoid the visible signs of struggling people, unlike wealthy people.

Clean subways benefit all subway users. Affordable housing creates stability in schools and neighborhoods.

I suppose if you live in a penthouse with a driver, send your kids to private school and send your household staff to shop for you, poverty isn't something you see, therefore not a problem.

With private insurance, have you ever been able to get a nonemergency derm appointment within a few days?

Guy I use now, see him only whenever there is a need or I need refills, etc., no emergencies, generally can get the appt in less than a week, sometimes as early as three days.   There are multisite dermo practices around here that advertise on tv/radio same day appts, though I would not use one of these practices myself.  Two months is just too long to wait to have newly-observed moles or other growths checked out.
