Anyone see the ring of fire today?

The library conference I was attending that day actually took a break so that we could all go outside to see it.  The day was beautiful!  We even each got a pair of eclipse glasses.

We're looking forward (!) to the seventh consecutive rainy weekend.
QuoteIt's Probably Going to Rain in New York This Weekend. Again.
A coastal storm threatens to deliver brisk winds and significant rain across the Northeast this weekend. It'll likely continue a run of miserable weekends for the region.

The forecast is for rain and thunderstorms tomorrow and rain on Saturday.

First frost advisory of the season for the DC area tonight.

Meanwhile, after a few days of fall-like cool we're in the midst of a whole week of being back to summer weather, with highs in the 80s.  Upper 80s today.  We sure could use some rain.

No hint of frost so far, and probably won't have any until well into December.  Frost outside the three winter months has become almost unheard-of here in recent years, and this year is an El Nino year.

Smolt has been begging to camp in the back yard.  We haven't had a convergence of 1)non-rainy weekend and 2) no plans to be away, since August (when it was too hot/humid/buggy).  This weekend is supposed to be dry and cool (overnight 52 F) so this is probably the last shot we have.

I noticed two tents pitched in the back of the local fire chief's yard as I was cutting through the alley this morning.  Family backyard camp-out, or do they have company?

Lovely day with the highs near 80--this was the first dry Saturday in almost two months. Tomorrow's forecast calls for rain and a temperature drop of more than 25 degrees.

We must be in the same vicinity, Langue_doc. I'm getting ready to replace the filter on my furnace and turn on the heat in the next few days.

Yesterday was in the upper 70s and clear.  Smolt and I had our last camping night.  Great telescope viewing of the moon and Jupiter (and 2 of its moons).  By morning, it was 50 and clouds are rolling in.  And now (9:30) rain has set in.

Its all downhill from here.

We've got a freeze warning for the metro DC region until tomorrow morning. There's a Hypothermia Alert in DC as of 7 pm as announced by the Mayor's Office.

Greetings from across the Potomac. :-)
That's not even wrong!

The high today briefly hit over 70.  Then rain moved in and the temperature dropped.  It looks and feels very seasonable now.

We have 30 mph winds, with gusts up to 50 mph, it's 39 degrees, and raining. There's snow in the forecast, pretty typical for the season. I could do without the wind, but love the temps.
I never look back, darling. It distracts from the now.

Rain all day and going into the overnight hours.
Getting to the big 3 airports in the DC area has been a mess--there have been back ups from the main interstates.

First freeze of the season here in the metro DC. There's also a Cold Emergency Alert for DC tonight.
