Mass. is on fire.   Almost no water for 3.5 months, bone-dry air, howling winds, dried out leaves covering more or less all open or forested areas.  At least 500 brush fires now ablaze, we even have a no outdoor fires/ grill ban (I cannot ever recall the latter here, even in the Dog Days).  Ah well.

It has been shocking to read about the brush fires in New England recently.  Hope you can soon get some of the rain we're getting today.

That said, we'd just as soon it took its time here.  We're also well behind on rain, and badly needed this to defuse our fire risks.  We've had outdoor burn bans for months.  Which are nothing new here, though they've grown more frequent in recent years.  Our climate has always been a bit bipolar--quite wet overall, yet with occasional serious droughts.  The extremes have naturally only gotten more so in recent years.

We had much needed rain here yesterday. Much of the Baltimore/DC region has been experiencing drought conditions and there was a burn ban too.

Parasaurolophus

First snow! Quite early for here. The hatchling is very excited.

I'm somewhat apprehensive, since the big stuff still needs moving, and our hill is mega-steep.
I know it's a genus.

Probably an inch or more of rain yesterday evening.  The day kept us in suspense as to whether it would actually do anything.  It finally did.  We were glad to have it.  I didn't even mind too much getting caught in some of it.

Ordinarily we'd have had our first frost of the season by now.  So far, not even close.  It has been shirt-sleeve and even short-sleeve weather.
