So much depends on local context that it is hard to say what the right move for you is. I think it is most likely that the program coordinator just made a huge ass out of himself to the president and everyone, and maybe nothing needs to be done. But he has made specific accusations in writing, so I guess the advice to counter them in writing is sound. Make your response brief and dispassionate. Show everyone that you are keeping your cool and that the coordinator is the squirrely one here.
