Ugh. This year I've missed a couple of meetings with students. I used to deal with my poor organization by only scheduling meetings at times when I knew I'd be in my office. Zoom messes that up. That said, I apologized profusely to those students. Just ghosting students because you don't care is totally unacceptable. After I realized the problem, I found ways to make sure I wouldn't miss any more meetings...

I was a TA for guy like that, who was also my advisor.

There'd be undergrads ten deep seated along the hallway beside his door, and he'd come bustling in, an hour after he'd told ALL of them to come see him, and say brightly, "OK, who's first?"

He messed up my schedule by signing something without reading it and offering no help in fixing it when the problem became apparent...I had to craft the work-around and get it approved.

I got a different advisor the next year.

Forsake the foolish, and live; and go in the way of understanding.

Reprove not a scorner, lest they hate thee: rebuke the wise, and they will love thee.

Give instruction to the wise, and they will be yet wiser: teach the just, and they will increase in learning.
